wait this isn't my personal space exploration gushing blog? drat. i should talk about the comic i guess. well, this week i went into long extensive rambles about the root structure of trees in conturian hotels as well as the gel-bubble window structure. if you too are a huge scifi nerd you might enjoy reading such things! i enjoyed writing about them, anyway.

this week, kyo answered questions about alien sleeping arrangements, his children's book writing career, his relationship with chovek, gibberish, lies, feet and of course - booze.

in terms of fanart this week, there's more from aspect as well as gloucester and the amazing sfe monster is in there too! :O

and those who have clicked through to the site will have also noticed that yes, there's another month-end chipin going. it is an ENORMOUS help when people donate to these, it really takes a lot of stress and pressure out of our household (primarily because i'm not pacing franticly wringing my hands espousing how we're going to wind up on the street) and i really, really appriciate it. donors this time will get a STICKER or a SKETCH (their choice), but if the goal is met then EVERYONE gets to read about MORBACKS and another page of FAIRY TALE. is fair, yes?

this weekend alf and i went and met up with gloucester (the dude who runs the white sun project) in salem! the weather was great and the museums were super neat. good time all around :o next time maybe we should get some more people together and all go as a big group, hmm.

it was a nice break too, because for two days i'd been agonizing over a transition between panels on the page this week. after you read the page, you can see what those concerns of mine were. but if you know what they are before you look, it may change the way you read the page. SO BE CAUTIOUS :O

in terms of fanart this week there's some from maniac/keetah, gloucester (real life sketch trading is fun!) and etheral117 who is on DA under the same name!

as for me, the only inhumany thing i drew this week (aside from the comic) were some sketches for gloucester. you can see them under the cut.

this week kyo answered questions about math, space ship defense, Rulerism, Nikitak Buddhism, ancient Hekshanians and of course booze.

i'm going to try to keep this short because uahgaghgggh i don't feel good. i didn't sleep last night cause i drank too much coffee trying to get the comic done on time and it's still a day late. that's what i get for experimenting. bluh.

as far as i know, all the donors who picked stickers should have them by now. as far as i know, only one sticker wound up on a DNA analyzer. the sketches will hopefully be coming along in the next week.

this week kyo answered questions about games he played as a kid, zombie apocolypse scenarios, cookies, hekshanian flaws, superpowers, clones and math. also grey answered a question about being blind.

lots of people drew awesome things this week. there's art by fry, 7luckz, maniac/keetah, aspect and adamska.

i drew some stuff too, yes.

first off, anyone who donated to the chipin and requested a sticker? check your mailbox! they've been sent! they should be arriving in the next few days.
people who are curious about the sticker design? you'll just have to wait and hope one of the donors posts a picture, because i don't plan on releasing the design :o ooooo mystery sticker ooooo

but let me draw your attention to this adorable mite plush that is up for auction, by shady. look at that purplepinkblue fluffpuff. he/she has no bids! that's a travesty! someone should bid on this adorable mite. yes.

i'd also like to thank everyone who's migrated over to the ask kyo tumblr to ask kyo. this week, kyo got to answer questions about The Pushcart War, vampire aliens, bad parties, alien gender roles, zoos and - of course - booze. it's a LOT easier to the tumblr manage than that old spam-ridden guest book, and i enjoy drawing responses a lot more than typing them out. i recently added a new page to it that links a few other Inhuman spin-off character ask tumblrs - the coolest of which is White Sun Pharamceuticals. if you feel like watching a creepy chuian be creepy, i can't think of a better place to go.

oh. related to the comic? i made a mistake with this page. but i fixed it.

in terms of fanart, there's stuff from Aspect, Maniac/Keetah and a commission from Roz Gibson that looks so cool. check 'em out.

i'll try to be really brief this week, because it's alf's bday and i'd rather be spending time with him so yeah :o

okay as a huge shocker, i actually updated the fanart archives. there were somewhere int he vacinity of 90+ pics waiting to go up. THEYRE UP NOW THOUGH. give it a little browse. i also finally got around to updating my art archives, so there's that too. and there's a new fanfic by coyote caliente and a couple of icons floating about.

the chipin was a rousing success :O i'll be sending out an e-mail monday to the people who contributed, asking if they want a drawing or a sticker. keep in mind these stickers are going to be exclusive to monthly doners - you can't buy them in the shop and i won't be uploading the art to them. the only way to see one of these stickers is to contribute to the chipins at the end of the month! but yes. the slightest clue i will give, and that is this: it is sort of forensicsy related.

but there IS new art this week for everyone to enjoy (since i'm updating the galleries again) and here it is!

greetings my fellow sasquatch. wait, you're not fellow sasquatch? FELLOW HUMANS (nice save, no one will ever suspect)

today is earth day. today i also updated the comic, but earth day is v important to me because i live on earth. earth day started largely as a result of the enviromentalism movement which started largely as a result of the US sending humans into space where we took pictures of our planet, our blue marble, floating in an inky sea of stars. the sense of scale caused a lot of people to realize we need to take care of our planet so it can take care of us. really, earth day and the push to explore space are intrinsicly linked. one spawned the other. so as much as i love staring into the stars, i also want to take care of our planet.

so today? walk somewhere instead of driving. turn off your lights early, turn down your heat, go for a walk in the woods if it's nice. plant some trees or flowers or grass or some other thing of your choosing. fill a birdfeeder, don't squash that bee/spider, and think about how great our planet is compared to some of the others not too far away. take care of earth and she'll take care of you. ignore earth, and well, we could be in for a short ride.

speaking of space and earth, there's something in the media that's bugging me lately. two people with a ton of money have finally proposed what scientists and nerds have been suggesting for years - that we begin mining asteroids for precious metals and resources. asteroids are in abundance (hell, we have two fields of them in our own solar system) and often contain things we could really use here on earth. but news agencies seem to be sort of guffawing at this, poo-pooing the possibilities. and that pisses me off. just because it SEEMS like science fiction doesn't mean it can't/shouldn't be done. would they have poo-poo'd the space program? the manhattan project? electricity? trains? planes? simply because something is the product of imagination doesn't mean it's not worth persuing. on the contrary, it means PERSUE THE HELL OUT OF THAT PROJECT. so i'm glad to hear that asteroid mining is finally becoming a seriously considered reality. now if the news would get their ignorant heads out of their asses, stop thinking with the heads of fifty years ago, and realize how great this is.

also i'm raising money for the mortgage again. this month i figured i'd offer doners a choice between a free sketch or a free sticker? and if the goal is met, i was thinking about writing up a planetary information file on the nikitak homeworld. i haven't posted a comic about this to the site yet, but i will later on in the week (likely monday). but as before basicly i'm asking for donations of 1$, since i feel like y'know. a buck is fair, right? for the comic every month? i hope? :B



anyhoo, that's all i really got. hopefully i'll have a mint comic for you all next week, and there's also talk of site work going on next weekend. but we'll see how that pans out.

i think spring is finally here in massachusetts! this is good, because since i am a lizard, it's harder to draw when it's cold out. horray! t-shirts and open windows for everyone! wait? it's going to be 88 degrees today? THATS NOT SPRING, THATS SUMMER. WHATS GOING ON OH GOD wait i like it that hot why am i complaining WOOOOOOO BEACH PARTY

for those who have been reading this comic through from the start, i finally broke down and wrote a large post detailing the symbolism of grey's reccuring hallucinations and delusions. it covers the shadows, the cat, the headworms, the tentacles, the trees...prettymuch everything that's shown up more than once. you can read it over on tumblr.

there's also a new page of unintentional mishaps! do enjoy :o there may be another one this week, it depends, as i'm working on a couple other comic projects for folks on commission right now.

and i suppose it's worth mentioning i've joined pottermore. it's now open to public registration, and seems mostly like a point & click flash based adventure game. i'm down with that. i already hit the end of the first book and there's not much i can do now, so until they open the second book i likely won't be using it very much. however, if you want to add me, my username is walnutecho31591. i do kinda request that you tell me who you are first? cause you get a lot of random requests from strangers on pottermore and i don't want any strangers on my friend list.

also this is a really hilarious movie if you're you know. old enough to know who ron jeremy is.

sorry for the slight delay there! i'd lie and say passover/easter slowed me down, but the long and short of it was i just wanted to spend a little time that weekend with my spouse (instead of nose-to-the-page comic binging) and so dragged my feet a bit on the page. however, i'm pretty pleased with the result!

there's a bit more of a ramble about this page over on tumblr, but not at excessive length or anything. just about what i was trying to do in some of the panels artsyfartsy wise and a little thing about wind-up bugs.

what is that you say? that, my friend, is a painting of all the generation 1 poison pokemon in watercolour. it's one of a series of All Poison Pokemon Ever that i'm drawing for the speedgamers to auction/raffle off/wear in leu of clothing for (whatever works) to raise money for charity! what charity you may ask? why, ACT today!

ACT Today is a charity organization devoted to helping kids and families of kids with autism get the care and treatment they need. and i am very down with that. so both the speedgamers and ACT today are aces by me, and i am proud to know my artwork will potentially be helping them out.

the speedgamers pokemon marathon begins this summer, and i'll post about it more as the time draws near. until then, i'm not sure HOW people are going to get chances to own that poison pokemon painting for their own. i just know THE POSSIBILITY WILL EVENTUALLY EXIST THAT YOU, YOU INDIVIDUAL RIGHT THERE READING THIS, COULD HAVE THAT PAINTING :O

WELL HELLO! a fine april morning we're having! for those just tuning in to this station, april fools comics are a bit of a tradition for me. in fact, it's the only holiday i'll draw filler for.

here they all are, all seven fillers.

i made with the talkin' about the comickin' on tumblr, in case you're curious.

the real big news is (as cial is reporting in this filler) water has been confirmed on enceladus (one of saturn's moons). that means there may be life there. check it out!

another spectacular april fools comic today is by mi amigo keetah, over at villain. yaranaika?

OH! and i almost forgot! shadycreepykid has created a nikitak plush and listed it up on furbuy. this is with my permission of course :O she's also planning a few other inhuman-related plushes to be listed in the near future, i'll try to keep folks updated as to when those auctions are!

so there's been two pages since i last posted - one where kyo gets his little holographic GPS and this one. they're really really starkly different (to me) but then we've also sort of swapped main speakers. kyo is a lot more stable, even in the face of all this change, and so when he's talking the whole world seems a lot more stable. when grey's driving the story/dialogue, things uh

things change and get a little wonky.

i also talked about both these pages a couple times on tumblr while i was working on them.

oh, there's also a new page of fairy tale.

i'd like to also thank everyone who's contributing to the month-end fundraiser. it's really helping out. i hit a bad patch this last week and my brain was all outta wack. hey, it happens. i don't feel like taking meds for my ups and downs so i just have to roll with it. normally it's no big deal but this time it was p. intense and it left me unable to make much progress on art for people. so the fundraiser really so far has saved my butt :o i'll be working on the thank-you art for it today.

anyhoo, comics for you. and i gotta jet. so i'll just leave you all with a xenobiology lesson and get going.
